Project Description:

MH is implementing of a new Child Protection project funded by UNICEF focusing on ‘Prevention and Response to Child Protection Needs and Concerns and Strengthening Knowledge on Child Protection amongst Local Communities, Local Authority Personnel and Government Staff in Baghdad’. This project targets 3 locations in Baghdad governorate (Abu Ghraib, Latifyah and Tarmiyah).

 

Responsibilities:

 

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Child Protection Specialist will conduct his/her work according to the project’s framework and requirements. In details. He/she will:

  • Manage and directly supervise the operational team composed of 12 PSS facilitators, in coordination with the PM and PMA;
  • Coordinate and supervise all PSS activities that are conducted in the 3 different locations;
  • Overview and follow up with awareness-raising activities conducted by 2 Child Protection Committees (one in Latifyah and one in Tarmiyah);
  • Cooperate in the recruitment and selection of the operational staff;
  • Participate from time to time to radio shows to spread awareness about CP and PSS;
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the operational staff, ensuring quality in the implementation of activities and services as well as the adherence to protection standards;
  • Helping organizing 2 events to spread awareness about child protection;
  • Conduct field visits to supervise the activities in field according to planned schedules as well as ad hoc according to needs;
  • Ensure all monitoring activities are fully documented, including systematic and timely data collection and guarantee the data entry on regular basis as per the standard monitoring formats and in coordination with MH’s MEAL Department;
  • Monitor results’ achievement against indicators;
  • Provide weekly and monthly report to the Project Manager providing updates on the activities of the overall project and highlighting challenges and solutions.
  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Social work, international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection and PSS-related areas is required. Knowledge of PSS programmes, and especially the Child Resilience Program, is a huge asset.
  • Good knowledge and work experience in MEAL.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is essential.
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • Quality team management, leadership skills and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Management capacity and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions clearly to achieve desired results.
  • Strong organizational skills.
