the region to share our vision of a healthy community? As we continue to grow, we have a need for the

following position:
Date: April 14, 2021

Position: Part Time- Settlement Advisor

Location: Sarnia

  • Work remotely – Temporarily due to COVID- 19.
  • Specific site to be determined.

Start: May 10, 2021 until March30, 2022 (conditional on funding)

Hours: 20 hours per week. Monday to Friday and occasional Saturdays- Hours could Vary.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide settlement services to YMAP youth, which includes but is not limited to

conducting needs assessments, creating settlement plans, providing information and

referrals.

  • Organize and facilitate regular engaging group workshops to youth.
  • Maintain accurate statistical information to track client needs and complete required

reports.

  • Maintain and expand YMAP client base through outreach, which includes community visits,

developing outreach materials and promoting community networks.

  • Supervise volunteers for the YMAP program.
  • Determines eligibility for YMAP program and transportation supports.
  • Ensure that YMAP applications and forms have all the require and accurate information and the

correct Immigration documentation.

  • Promote and maintain a safe and clean YMAP program environment.
  • Participate in regular planning meetings with Regional Manager of Newcomer Youth and YMAP

Facilitators

  • Complete administration tasks
  • Assist Regional Manager of Newcomer Youth with the creation of Program reports such as

attendance and narrative, curriculum, and school presentations and in supporting the youth by

providing essential Settlement services.

  • Assist Program Facilitators with the Creation, plan, and Facilitation of the YMAP curriculum
  • Create an educational, enjoyable, and supervised environment for youth by planning and

implementing programming.

  • Attend Community and YMCA Orientation meetings and events when required.
  • Work in a safe and respectful environment with your team members.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, Sport and Recreation and/or any

related area

  • Experience working with youth an asset
  • Facilitation experience
  • Familiar with youth services in Sarnia
  • Comfortable using public transportation.
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Fluency in English and Arabic an asset
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Comfortable and effective communicating in group situations
  • Current Criminal Record Check and vulnerable sector
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
