The Opportunity
As the Community Outreach Worker you will be responsible for responding to emerging needs of clients, working collaboratively with internal and/or external service providers to ensure effective communication, resolution of problems and successful engagement of clients with community.
Specifically, you will:
Work collaboratively with Centre colleagues to assist clients with emerging settlement needs.
Provide extension services for issues that may need additional follow up
Attend meetings as part of a case management team as required
Prepare monthly reports and enter data on work activities
Provide support to Intake/Reception when scheduled
Provide technical support with YMCA equipment
Provide support with AIP intake or data entry as needed

You Bring
Experience working in a community or service centre environment
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (ability to speak Arabic an asset)
Knowledge of the settlement sector and issues impacting newcomers to Nova Scotia
Robust understanding and connection to a variety of community services and resources
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
Effective and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
High level of initiative and ability needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate client needs outside of regular business hours, as needed
Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid Standard First Aid and level C CPR training. Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training.
