Location: Nebraska State Office Building, Lincoln, Nebraska

Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm; Monday – Friday

This Agency regulates the vehicle industry, including the manufacturing and selling of new and used cars, trucks, trailers and motorcycles. The Agency also investigates consumer complaints against dealers and resolves disputes between dealers and manufacturers. This position is primarily responsible for the administrative processes of a consumer complaint; answering phones; providing customer service to callers and walk-in customers; processing license renewal applications, special event permits, composing letters and other correspondence; preparing complaint logs for board meetings, filing, managing website content, along with many other miscellaneous administrative duties as needed. Will be cross-trained to provide support when office co-workers are absent.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment, research; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience in performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Experience with JD Edwards, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Proficiency in Spanish or Arabic in addition to English.

OTHER: Top group of applicants will be required to take a typing test of 40 WPM minimum with 95% accuracy. Individuals who accept employment with the Motor Vehicle Industry Licensing Board are subject to a background check. Employment shall be contingent upon the results of the background check.

Ability to thoroughly examine documents for correctness and completeness with great attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to be a self-starter and skill in organization and prioritizing workloads. Effective communicator capable of defusing situations involving upset complainants and licensees. Ability to handle a stressful working environment while remaining focused and efficient. Positive attitude and friendly demeanor in addition to dependability and commitment to the job are essential.
