Summary:
Al-Jazeera Arabic is looking for editors to supervise coverage for our ambitious AJ-Reyada, the network’s new online vertical covering entrepreneurship, innovation, start-ups, younger leaders, money and business.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate and make content, often from English, into Arabic
Accurately review translated stories provided by freelancers
Receive stories and communicate daily with freelancers/writers for edits and changes to their stories
Help maintain AJ-Reyada page with a constant feed of stories daily and on scheduled weekends.
Participate in weekly editorial meetings, when needed, with reporters to discuss story pitches and assign stories.
Frame news coverage to benefit the Middle East business community, rising leaders, with a focus on innovation, tech trends, start-ups and entrepreneurship.
Generate story ideas by monitoring news releases, the start-up ecosystem in the Middle East and social media.
Edit and write their own compelling, by-lined stories based on strong news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure.
Oversee deadline calendar to ensure reporters file stories on time
Represent AJ-Reyada at forums, meetings, events and with partner news outlets.
You will have:
Minimum BA in Journalism, Media, Communication, or other related fields
Minimum 7 years of professional experience in reputable international newsroom.
