Context

Under the general guidance of the Head, Community Stabilization Unit, the overall supervision of the

Programme Coordinator, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO), and the direct

supervision of the Area Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting IOM’s social

cohesion activities in Ba’aj and other locations in West Ninewa as tasked, by performing the following functions and responsibilities:

Core Functions / Responsibilities

1. Design and implement social cohesion and peacebuilding activities in in Ba’aj or/and West Ninewa.

2. Develop an activity plan in close collaboration with the Area Coordinator.

3. Participate in needs assessments, including collecting data and facilitating group discussions in the

target communities.

4. Conduct community outreach activities and collaborate with civil society organization ensuring

inclusiveness of vulnerable and marginalized populations in project activities.

5. Support the Area Coordinator to organize and coordinate workshops, trainings, dialogue sessions and

other small group events, in close collaboration with local authorities and communities.

6. Assist the Area Coordinator in the overall management of the project, including administrative,

coordination, and project development functions.

7. Participate in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the program and the integration of work with

activities the social cohesion and other CSU program activities on governorate level.

8. Participate in the capacity building activities arranged by CSU for local stakeholders on social cohesion

and peacebuilding topics.

9. Any other duty as may be assigned by the Area Coordinator or program officers.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or other relevant social

sciences from an academic accredit university or institute.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the humanitarian or development sector, of which at least 1

year involves social cohesion, peacebuilding, or MHPSS programs.

Experience in capacity building for local NGOs or social programmes is a strong advantage.

Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally

diverse backgrounds.

Languages:

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
