Description

Project title:   Technical Assistance for the Support for Children’s Rights in Turkey

 

Brief description:

The purpose of this project is to increase the standards of care services and to strengthen combating child labour, including integrated care services, prevention of child labour and sexual exploitation of children as well as capacity building for child care services in line with the principles of the EU guidelines for the Protection and Promotion of the rights of the child.

 

Technical assistance to be provided to the Ministry of Family and Social Services include:

  • Improvement of child protection and childcare services
  • Prevention of child labour, including protection of refugees and most vulnerable children from abusive and exploitative labour situations, child victims of physical and sexual abuse.
  • Identification, referral, treatment and rehabilitation of children under vulnerable conditions
  • Prevention of early marriages.
  • Specific activities expected to include: conducting analysis and field studies, defining modalities and standards, developing assessment tools, implementing pilot activities.

 

Commencement date of the project:   January 2022 – 3-year project duration

 

Requirements:

 

Qualifications & skills

 

  • Preferably a Master´s degree in the areas of social sciences, social care, law, political sciences, international relations or other disciplines related to child rights
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English

 

General professional experience

 

  • Preferably, at least 10 years of professional experience in the areas of child protection and child rights
  • Preferably, at least one experience as a Team Leader or in a project management position in the implementation of similar government- or donor-funded projects
  • Experience in the management of EU funded projects would be considered a strong advantage

 

Specific professional experience

  • Preferably, at least 7 years of experience in working with public sector institutions and/or international organizations and/or charitable/non-governmental organizations responsible for child protection and child rights
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing and managing child rights-related initiatives and services, and service delivery for national/local authorities and/or charitable/non-governmental organizations
  • Proven experience in at least two of the project thematic areas: childcare services, prevention of child labour, early marriage, physical or sexual exploitation of children, children with disabilities, vulnerable children, etc. will be considered as a strong advantage
  • Experience with and knowledge of international and/or EU conventions, policies or practices in child rights and child protection will be considered as an asset
  • Previous experience in EU member state, Turkey or another EU candidate country will be an advantage
