Materials/Welding Engineer (Iraq Nationals)



Responsibilities:

  • To work as Materials & Welding Engineer on the GCMC for all phases of the project.
  • To work as the focal point for coordinating / resolving issues related to materials, corrosion and welding with ROO Functions, Third Party Certification Agency, GCMC CONTRACTOR etc. and maintain cordial relationship with all parties concerned to ensure that the approved schedules are complied with.
  • Coordinate, Monitor and handle materials issues with CONTRACTOR as per project requirements and complete the same within the agreed time frame.
  • Work with other discipline engineers within Operation/Site Interface Focal Personnel and provide recommendations for improvement in practices, processes, organization, etc.
  • Providing Technical support for procurement activities including provision of specifications and resolution of technical issues.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and expertise to the project including reviewing and developing Welding and Materials procedures.
  • Ensure fabrication and inspection of materials in compliance with relevant codes, standards and Company standards.
  • Problem solving to provide solutions to the project in relation to Welding and Materials.
  • Ensure that the engineering team members proposed by the CONTRACTOR have the necessary skill sets to handle the materials issues within the set targets.
  • Ensuring that Technical compliance is maintained in the work conducted.
  • Implement Engineering activities with close coordination with GCMC Discipline Engineers, CONTRACTOR, Functions and in accordance with project specification, procedures, standards and project goals.
  • Agreement with CONTRACTOR on the list of Materials deliverables required for the successful completion of project.
  • Review and approval of Materials, Welding and Corrosion deliverables prepared by CONTRACTOR or sub-contractors as applicable.
  • Intervention with EPC1 CONTRACTOR and interface parties to resolve any issue to satisfy project requirements.
  • Monitor the performance of the CONTRACTOR and provide necessary design inputs and follow up during the execution of engineering and installation.
  • Participate in discussions with CONTRACTOR, Operation/Site team and other parties.
  • Highlight critical issues to Engineering Manager and facilitate resolution of material issues.
  • Promote HSE awareness and ensure that all HSE requirements are implemented and adhered to.
  • Participate in HAZOP / HAZID Workshops, Constructability studies, Project Reviews, Risk assessments etc. as applicable for the project from time to time.
  • Visit to project facilities, existing facilities and facilities during various phases

 

Requirements :

  • B.Sc or Diploma in Materials Science or a related engineering topic supplemented by additional qualifications specific to welding engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry with at least 10 years in the design and engineering of onshore pipelines.
  • Experience of working with Oil Companies, Project Management Consultants, EPC Contractors and IPMT environment.
  • Clear understanding of project specifications and in-depth knowledge of applicable onshore pipeline design codes and practices.
  • It is essential that candidates have detailed knowledge of sour service materials and shall be well versed with the use of international standards such as NACE MR0175/ISO15156, DNV, ASME IX, ASME V, ASME VIII and API codes and broad knowledge of other industry requirements.
  • The Materials & welding engineer shall have knowledge of welding techniques, fracture mechanics and ECA, pipeline manufacturing, fabrication and installation.
  • The Materials & welding engineer shall have working experience in preparing welding procedures, specifications for materials, corrosion protection, CP design and NDE techniques such as RT and AUT.
  • It is essential that the candidate has excellent team working skills and the ability to interface with several different Project teams.
  • It is expected that candidates are confident in conveying their expertise and providing solutions to problems and queries presented to them.
  • It is preferred to have work experience on pipeline installations
  • It is essential that candidates have good organizational skills and smart working methods.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with ability to coach and mentor.
  • Excellent knowledge of Spoken and Written English.
