General Position Summary

The Global Programs Officer will own a portfolio of MicroMentor programs with partners, specifically organizations, corporates or cooperation agencies, integrating mentoring as a crucial component of their economic development programs supporting entrepreneurs, employee engagement corporate programs or special innovation focused projects. The Global Programs Officer will support the design, implementation, and measurement of MicroMentor programs globally, so that multiple program stakeholders, such as partners, staff, entrepreneurs, mentors and corporate volunteers, feel supported in achieving their objectives. The Global Programs Officer is an innovative and strategic thinker and uses a holistic approach to program management, incorporating strategy, design, influence, partnerships, internal collaboration, operations management, M&E and reporting to achieve success in this role. They will be working closely with team members across functions and geographies.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Program Management

● Understand how to best align MicroMentor technology to partner goals.

● Ensure that effective program management tools are in place, and that MicroMentor projects are delivered on time, in scope and on budget.

● Lead or support the development and implementation of MicroMentor’s global programs, including corporate employee and economic development programs, focusing on program design, partner onboarding, training, engagement and recruitment campaigns, reporting, and long-term monitoring and evaluation.

● Involve in planning, implementation and results reporting for experimentation conducted as part of the Programs execution, as we are defining new ways to reach scale and community engagement.

● Ensure the provision of outstanding customer service to partners and streamline the support process over the partner lifecycle.

● Travel to and coordinate program implementation in partner or field locations where appropriate.

● Hire, orient and lead interns, and support staff as necessary

M&E and Learning

● Design and lead the monitoring and evaluation process for overall program objectives with the Impact and Insights team.

● Provide detailed reports for internal and external use and ensure high quality and timely client and donor reporting.

● Identify opportunities for the documentation and dissemination of institutional knowledge such as, operational procedures, case studies, lessons learned and best practices in corporate social responsibility, and economic development as gleaned from the partners we serve.

Revenue and Partnership Development

● Collaborate with the Revenue Team on partnership development with corporate, NGO, government and other organizations, specifically in program design, proposal development and program start-up, reporting, close-out and renewal.

● Assist in the development and review of earned income proposals, grant applications and program budgets.

● Serve as back up for partnership development as needed by the Revenue Team.

Accountability

Reports Directly To: Sr. Business Solutions Specialist

Works Directly With: MicroMentor Programs Team, MicroMentor Partners, MicroMentor mentors and entrepreneurs, Mercy Corps country program staff and HQ staff

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of our field projects.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

● 4+ years experience in project management, complex project management is a plus.

● Proven track record of working in an external facing role with excellent communication and interpersonal skills across cultures, and stakeholders.

● Proven ability to effectively build interpersonal relationships and achieve alignment across a wide range of functions and constituents

● Excellent organizational and project planning skills

● Project implementation experience, including, event or workshop facilitation and budget management

● Experience in Corporate Social Responsibility and/or employee volunteerism

● Familiarity with economic development, entrepreneurship, small business support

● Community engagement experience (virtual and/or in-person)

● Flexible approach and an ability to operate effectively with uncertainty and change

● Driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic. Problem solver with a “can do” attitude.

● Spanish, Arabic or French fluency a plus

● Project management certification a plus

● Bachelor’s degree, Masters or MBA a plus

A successful Global Programs Officer will exhibit a positive attitude, strong work ethic, high integrity, and a passion for the mission of Mercy Corps and MicroMentor. This individual will be an excellent and intentional communicator who is passionate about delivering value to MicroMentor partners, while balancing those needs with the organization’s priorities, resources and objectives. Attention to and comprehension of details is vital for success. The Global Programs Officer will be able to visualize and engage the “big picture”, while also being able to identify, develop, implement, and maintain project plans, procedures and systems. They will have a bias toward execution, the ability to establish and meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with teams. The Global Programs Officer should have the proven ability to synthesize information, draw meaningful conclusions, and respond appropriately.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

This position will be remotely based anywhere in the US and supporting our US-based team. This role may include travel for team meetings and occasionally to country offices across the agency, travel estimated up to 15% of the time pending COVID-19 travel restrictions. Travel may be to insecure and/or austere locations.

Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC’s policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in country venues.
