Part-time Family & Community Outreach Specialist

PURPOSE/GOAL: The purpose of this position is to coordinate family engagement and enhance communication efforts to strengthen community relations. The Family and Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for promoting relationships with key audiences, which lead to meaningful engagement of families and community stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS: -Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing for a technical audience-Availability to plan, facilitate and attend educational programs families and community members during evening and after-school-Strong skills in the use of digital resources for communication and programming, including leveraging social media tools-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a diverse population-Proven ability to both facilitate and participate in conversations with a variety of different audiences (students, teachers, business professionals, parent, school leaders, etc.)-Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends when necessary-Ability to speak any of the following languages in addition to English is a plus: Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, or Hindi.TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES: -Coordinate the work of the districts Family Engagement Committee: Attend monthly meetings, organize and facilitate District Family Engagement Group meetings, plan and coordinator family events during evening / after school hours.-Communicate with and support school administrators on school-based family engagement activities.-Keep the districts focus on equity, diversity and inclusion in family engagement activities. -Advertise family engagement activities and events to the Billerica community.-Coordinate surveys of families to assess family engagement efforts and needs of families.-Collaborate with the district webmaster to develop and coordinate content of the district and school websites.-Execute social media promotion and engagement that drive education-awareness, promote school department initiatives and showcase school and district highlights on platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.-Produce high quality content through the website and publications that communicates the districts goals and priorities to stakeholders.-Support filming, editing, and production of videos and other multimedia-oriented content.-Perform other related duties as assigned.-Work up to 15 hours a week from September through June.COMPENSATION: $30 / Hour This is a grant-funded position for the 2021-2022 school year.INTERESTED CANDIDATES: Please submit a letter of interest (explaining your qualifications and why you want to participate in the work)
