Job description

The intern will support the implementation of GIZ’s Turkish-German exchange project on the integration of Syrian refugees into host communities, commissioned by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The main objective of the project is to support government institutions to provide better services to Syrian refugees and their host communities. The project focuses on establishing an institutionalised exchange on the integration of refugees between Turkey and Germany and is embedded within the Support to Refugees and Host Communities (SRHC) Cluster in GIZ Turkey. The Intern will contribute to processes that support Turkish institutions in delivering effective and efficient services to refugees and host communities.

Your tasks

  • Supports in the creation and dissemination of PR & visibility materials both internally within the company and externally, in accordance with corporate design regulations
  • Supports in the data and knowledge management in the team
  • Supports with M&E processes
  • Supports the management and the team in compiling relevant and necessary information on the project, and presentations for external meetings and events, for stakeholders and internal purposes
  • Assists with general project planning and implementation, contributing to the development of project concepts, organisation, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of project events and activities
  • Supports SRHC coordination activities and corresponding PR measures
  • Identification of German partner organizations and key stakeholders for the Exchange Project
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Your profile

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to take initiative
  • Outstanding writing skills and fluency in English and German, knowledge of Turkish is considered an asset
  • Excellent knowledge about the political landscape in Germany related to migration management, knowledge of and experience in Turkey an asset
  • Proved ability to work effectively in a high-pressure and high-visibility context
  • Interest in learning about cross-cutting themes such as gender, Agenda 2030
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders with tact and diplomacy
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies
  • Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.652,- (gross). Depending on the country of assignment a monthly expatriation allowance (gross), predetermined by GIZ will be paid on top.
