About the job

 

The Social Cohesion Project Manager is responsible for leading a project team to successfully deliver a community dialogue and peacebuilding project in Diyala. This will include the direct line management of one field team in Diyala and the implementation of all the projects designated outputs on time, according to the workplan, and within budget. The Project Manager will oversee a direct implementation of day-to-day activities, engage local stakeholders, community members, and youth in DRC programming, and ensure project recording keeping, reporting, and an active culture of organizational learning.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in successful implementation of project activities on time and within budget to the highest quality and according to DRC’s sectoral strategy.
  • Coordinate, plan, and monitor project activities
  • Take leadership of the project programs in terms of high quality and timely deliveries, narrative reporting and financial overviews, close cooperation with donors, civil society and government counterparts and coordination mechanism, in synergy with other DRC interventions in the area
  • Formalize and develop project related operational tools and training modules
  • Provide regular input for donor reporting and ensure proper documentation of project activities, in compliance with DRC policy.
  • Provide overall budget monitoring, financial management and expenses control for the project activities, including compliance with minimum DRC and donor requirements
  • Maintain ongoing conflict analysis on changes in local conflict dynamics and possible impact on programming.
  • Develop and facilitate training on subjects such as actor mapping and community dialogue
  • Develop and reinforce relationships with local stakeholders and partners, including community leaders and civil authorities in your location
  • Directly participate in day-to-day implementation of project activities including mobilization of communities, facilitation of community dialogue sessions, training and mentoring conflict prevention and management participants and regularly liaise with youth groups DRC is collaborating in on the project.

 

Accountability and reporting

  • Guided by the DRC Programme Handbook and under the supervision of the Area Manager, continuously monitor and develop relevant accountability initiatives within relevant project program as well as strengthening the effort to document the impact of activities
  • Ensure compliance with DRC financial, logistics, and human resources policies and procedures in coordination with the Area team and country office

 

People Management

  • Lead and manage project staff members working in the project location, including coaching, ensuring coordination, recruitment, and capacity development
  • Provide on the job training as much as required and adapt trainings/coaching to specific staff needs

Other

  • Ensure adherence to DRC national staff policy guidelines and Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure compliance with DRC AGD policy and AGD programmatic minimum standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the zero-tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy
  • Ensure compliance with DRC guidelines and policies on HR, admin, finance, and supply.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks as requested by the Peacebuilding Project Manager.

About you

  • At least 3 years of experience working with non-governmental organizations
  • Demonstrated project management experience & Experience in managing projects requiring multi-stakeholders engagement
  • At least one year of demonstrated work experience with communities conducting community dialogue facilitation exercises
  • Demonstrated ability to provide trainings and build capacity of other staff using positive learning techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in programming engaging youth
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and supporting people effected by conflict; previous experience in delivering humanitarian programming is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of gender and protection mainstreaming; a commitment to apply an age, gender and diversity (AGD) approach to programming.
  • Strong analytical and communication, negotiation, advocacy and diplomacy skills; effective in representation and liaison with external parties.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly develop good insight and understanding of the political environment of the country.
  • Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)University degree, preferably in social sciences.
  • Language : Flunet in English (written and spoken), and arabic.
