The Joint Initiative for Strategic Religious Action (JISRA) in Iraq is a consortium of three international NGOs, namely Search, Tearfund, and Mensen met een Missie (MM), as well as local partners Peace and Freedom Organization (PFO) and Christian Aid Program Northern Iraq (CAPNI). JISRA aims to address and transform intra-, inter-, and extra-religious dynamics in Iraq to promote Freedom of Religion and Belief through direct and local partner implementation across Iraq. As a part of this project, Search will facilitate the training of project staff for all consortium members, including both international and local civil society partners, in the key methodologies to be applied across project locations throughout the duration of the program, including the Common Ground Approach (CGA) to Religious Engagement. The independent consultant/s will work closely alongside Search Iraq’s Project Manager, and Iraq Country Manager, as well as other relevant Search staff members.
As part of the JISRA project, Search will train the partner organization staff in Search’s conflict transformation methodology: the Common Ground Approach (CGA) and the Religious Engagement (RE) curriculum, adapted to the local context of Iraq, inclusive of an advocacy training. The CGA focuses on strategies for non-adversarial communication, active listening, empathy building and other skills that help groups constructively communicate and engage across dividing lines over common interests. Using similar skills processes, the RE methodology focuses on the most effective ways to engage religious actors in building intra-, interreligious and multi-sectoral collaboration.
The consultant will have to develop a curriculum using the above noted existing Search tools, in consultation with Search’s CGA and Religious Engagement units, to the Iraq context. Once the curriculum is developed, the consultant will have to deliver the trainings in-person in Erbil, Iraq.
To apply, interested candidates are requested to submit the following documents:
● A brief description of the training methodology
● Detailed CV, Cover Letter, and confirmation that the trainer is available in October 2021 to deliver training in Erbil, Iraq
● Financial proposal including daily rate (travel and accommodation in Erbil will be covered)
To apply, interested candidates should send the following items to our employment portal here before August 28th 2021.
As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
