 For our PSD team, Cordaid Iraq seeks to hire a Project Leader based in Erbil with frequent travels to the field.

 

Job description:

The Project Leader will be responsible for the implementation of the Boost your Entrepreneurship Aspirations Project. He/she will work with a Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Erbil (and teaching staff representatives of other VTCs) and will co-create a relevant entrepreneurship curriculum with strong practical entrepreneurial assignments and an on-the-job learning component. For this, the Business Development Officer will collaborate with local and international partners to realize this. The Business Development Officer will report directly to the Program Manager Private Sector Development based at Cordaid’s Country Office in Erbil.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

BDS support for existing and new projects

  • Support PSD PM with the design of new PSD projects, including proposal writing.
  • Support the other existing projects with BDS expertise

 

Networking

  • Identify and connect with MSMEs and other business stakeholders, relevant for exchange visits, mentoring/coaching, investments and/or those who can be potential employers or mentors for jobseekers
  • Liaise with governmental actors to assure support for implementation
  • Organize exchange visits to role model businesses
  • Facilitate the on-the-job learning program

 

Coordination of curricula

  • Together with Cordaid Health team, develop gender and MHPSS workshops
  • Liaise with training institutes and partners in the development of curriculum
  • Tailor Cordaid entrepreneurship curriculum to local context
  • Collaborate with private sector to develop on-the-job learning schemes
  • Coordinate and assist the implementation of the trainings and workshops

 

Reporting & other

  • Collaborate with PSD team in delivering the necessary information (data collection) for monitoring systems in place
  • Work closely with finance, operations and administration staff to ensure operational systems are in place to support relevant (field) activities including logistics, procurement, security and administration
  • Carry out other relevant tasks directed by the PSD Program Manager

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of management and coaching styles, project management, international cooperation with local partners, country/region of the Country Office, techniques, reporting standards and languages.
  • At least 4 years of experience in managing professional projects and/or (sub-)offices of international organizations or companies.
  • Knowledge of the project field of expertise for example agriculture/health/economy or other relevant subject on an academic level and able to provide technical solutions
  • Social skills to agree on deliverables, ensure progress with staff and to support partners
  • Behavioral values and skills: trust, accountability, problem solving, cooperation, teambuilding, negotiation, conflict management, collaboration, flexibility, creativity
  • Writing skills to clearly formulate project proposals, project plan and project reports
  • Knowledge ofthelegal framework that governs Cordaid’s operations, as required by local and national government and by majordonors (EU, UN, US, BilateralDonors)
  • Knowledge of the mission statement and goals of the Cordaid project and the security policy.

Language Skills:

  • Spoken and written English = Mandatory
  • Spoken and written Kurdish = Mandatory
  • Spoken and written Arabic = An asset
  • IT Skills
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, outlook) especially Excel
