Role Summary:

The Translator is responsible for the interpretation requirements of the Location and to support the Programme, both verbal and written. The Translator will be required to work in Anbar.

 

Responsibilities:

The Translator will be required to work with different international staff who need translation for everyday tasks, field visits, discussions with other staff and other organisations, including Government meetings. The job will be varied, and it will involve working in Anbar. Written and formal translation will also be required. At times help with different tasks will be needed, and HALO is looking for a positive person who is always willing to help and work as part of a team. 

The HALO Trust work in Explosive Hazards clearance, there are a lot of technical words and discussions. The Translator is expected to study and learn the necessary vocabulary for the job quickly, HALO will, of course, help with this and provide useful documents.

The Translator, every month, will be tasked to teach some lessons in basic English, and basic Arabic to help HALO staff improve their language skills.

 

The Translator will be responsible for:

• Act as an interpreter between staff for office and field staff Arabic / English.
• Act as an interpreter for meetings and discussions, including the Government of Iraq
• Interpret for visitors to the Programme
• Provide translation of informal and formal letters, documents, policies, invitations and other
• working documents as required
• Assist with other administrative tasks as required
• Co-ordinating and organising meetings and sometimes visits.

 

Qualifications & Skills :

· Degree in English

· Excellent oral and written English skills as mandatory

· Minimum 3 years’ experience translating English/Arabic for international staff

· Advance user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
