We are actively hiring an Arabic Social Media Cultural Advisor to join our Defense and Homeland Security Division in the Washington, DC area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate and maintain familiarity with USG policy on designated issues
Conduct a weekly editorial board meeting with customer staff to plan, develop, and finalize online content including tweets, articles of policy importance, webchats and interviews, videos, and Facebook polls and entries.
Monitor online discussion forums, blogs/video-logs and other electronic media, and ensure that U.S. opinions and policies are accurately represented.
Alert customer to issues warranting attention and possible response. Analyze situations and recommend potential responses or engagement that will maximize U.S. national security interests
Draft proposed responses and other messages in the foreign language and translate these responses into English for review by senior staff. Post and monitor these responses on customer’s platforms
Make accurate translations of talking points, policy statements, print interviews, and otherwise assist in support of our spokespersons.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Must possess an active Top Secret clearance
A minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited university
Near native Arabic language capability particularly in writing and fluency in English
Minimum five years’ experience working directly with the U.S. government on Middle East media and strategic communications.
Expert knowledge of Arabic-language and English-language online media and social networking platforms
Expertise in the Arabic-language online environment and in-depth knowledge of the Middle East culture and history
Professional experience in software engineering, content creation, and website and social media management
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience working with foreign visitors and delegations is important, particularly facilitating foreign visitor programs.
Skilled in promoting brands to target markets via media
Previous work monitoring and reporting on foreign media
