Operation Officer

Operation Officer is a field-based position. The primary duty of the Supervisor is managing the work of up to three manual and/or mechanical teams conducting clearance of land contaminated by Improvised Explosive Devices, Unexploded Ordnance, and all other Explosive Remnants of War as per the AL-GHAD Standard Operating Procedures.

 

Main responsibilities:

• Coordinating the work of up to three manual and/or mechanical teams conducting clearance of explosive hazards
• Working with team leaders to create clearance plans for tasks
• Conducting regular quality control checks of cleared area, team working practices, machine and equipment servicing, clearance maps, and daily reporting
• Maintaining awareness of the security situation, prioritizing team safety, and reporting any concerns to AL-GHAD senior management
• Maintaining discipline within teams, ensuring working hours are adhered to and reporting any issues to AL-GHAD senior management
• Managing and reporting serious incidents
• Ensuring each team undertakes CASEVAC training at least once a month.
• Conduct refresher training for operational staff, according to non-conformities identified or as directed by Operations Manager.
• Complying with standard operating procedures, AL-GHAD policies, safety regulations and applicable national and international law
• Following all rules and regulations laid out by the contract of employment, employee handbook, and national law
• Representing AL-GHAD publicly in a responsible and professional manner
• Ensuring the cleaning, maintenance, upkeep, and repair of all items of uniform, tools, or kit issued to the Supervisor and their assigned teams by the AL-GHAD Trust
• Following all lawful and safe instructions from managers
• All other tasks as assigned

Education
– Experience EOD work
– EOD Level 4
– Secondary degree
– 5 over years’ experience from the mine action sector

Qualifications Requested:

– Working knowledge of English (intermediate in speaking, reading and writing) is an advantage.
– Good interpersonal skills
– Good communication and understanding skills
– Able to work effectively under, & adapt to, difficult conditions
Willingness.
– Be able to work in a safe manner and as per SOPs.
– Computer knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel.
