The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is seeking applicants for the position of C4JR Public Relations/Communications Officer at a location in Erbil (candidates from Duhok/Mosul/Sulaymaniyah are also eligible), Iraq, to create and implement communications strategies that further C4JR goals.

Journalism, communications, law or other social sciences degree

Required experience

No less than one year of experience in the field of public relations, advocacy etc.

About C4JR

Coalition for Just Reparations (C4JR) is an alliance of 32 Iraqi NGOs calling for comprehensive reparations for civilian victims of atrocity crimes perpetrated during the ISIL conflict in Iraq. C4JR uses Iraqi law and international human rights law to support reparation claims of survivors and encourage Iraqi authorities to meet their obligation to provide reparations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Supports and promotes C4JR goals, through message development, creation of social media content and media outreach;
  2. Designs and implements an advocacy campaign promoting the C4JR;
  3. Works closely with C4JR Secretariat and Coordinating Committee;
  4. Drafts short media pieces about C4JR activities;
  5. Obtains input from, cooperates and consults C4JR members;
  6. Communicates with the media outlets in and outside Iraq;
  7. Further develops and updates C4JR website;
  8. Designs printed and multimedia materials etc.;
  9. Cooperates with international human rights organizations and human rights lawyers;
  10. Carries out other related tasks;

 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Fluent in Arabic, Kurdish and an excellent command of the English language;
  2. Degree in journalism, communications, law or other social sciences degree;
  3. Basic knowledge of civil society organizations in Iraq and international human rights;
  4. A minimum of one year experience in managing public relations, designing and implementing advocacy activities and campaigns;
  5. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
  6. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, cooperation with C4JR members and external partners;
  7. Ability to work independently and provide reports within a tight timeframe;
  8. Active interest in promoting human rights and social justice; awareness of current events both nationally and internationally;
