Background
IMC Iraq is implementing a GBV prevention and response program in Erbil, Dohuk, Ninewa, Salahadin, Anbar, and Kirkuk governorates.IMC mainly focuses on GBV case management, implements EA$E and EMAP activities as well as the adolescent girls. IMC aims at mainstreaming protection and GBV in their other programming to ensure safe access to quality services for vulnerable people.
Job Purpose
The group facilitator is responsible for helping participants reach decisions and accomplish goals. Her duties include working with groups to clarify meeting content, objectives and to establish ground rules that govern behavior. Facilitator duties also involve working with the women and girls at the women centers in selecting appropriate methods and tools that will enable them to achieve results. When problems or issues come up, facilitators work with the group to resolve conflict and return to goals.
Main Responsibilities
– Identify, select and modify workshop resources to meet the needs of clients with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
– Observe and evaluate clients’ performance, behavior, social development.
– Provide a positive environment in which women and girls are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
– Meet workshop and program performance goals.
– Conduct orientation/intake sessions to acquire new participants.
– Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules.
– Instruct clients individually and in groups, using various adult learning methods such as lectures, discussions, and group activities.
– Prepare materials and training rooms for workshop activities.
– Conduct basic case management if necessary.
– Conduct structured awareness-raising activities at the women’s centers.
Participate in establishing the women’s committees coaching and mentoring sessions.
– Training women to learn the basics of mathematics.
Qualifications
Diploma in community development, business administration, social work, and social administration or related field.
Experience
Essential:- Proven work experience as a facilitator.
Desirable:- Professional experience in GBV prevention and response programs in emergencies.
Competency:-
Essential
– Thorough understanding of best practices in GBV response and GBV primary prevention and risk reduction
– A clear understanding of gender, human rights, and issues surrounding violence against girls.
– Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, prioritize work under pressure
– Respect the code of conduct and policies of the IMC and the standards of the GBV team.
– Good communication, listening, and social skills.
– skills in group learning techniques, as well as skills in problem-solving, conflict resolution, team building, planning, and organizing.
– Attention to detail, well organized, and driven to results.
– Ability to work with a broad spectrum of people from different cultural backgrounds
– Good communication skills, both oral and written in Arabic.
Desirable
Good communication skills in English.
