The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) seeks to fill four Building Maintenance Technician vacancies to keep its recreation facilities looking top notch and support district programming. Our facilities are essential to our community in providing high-quality recreation and are maintained by our dedicated employees in the maintenance operations department. Building Maintenance Technician I (2 vacancies) Salary Range: $4,182-$5,297 monthly.

If you have the equivalent to a high school diploma and more than 3 years of experience in commercial custodial services, you may be a great match for the Building Maintenance Technician I position! The Tech I is an advanced journey-level classification that performs the full range of routine maintenance and custodial duties. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, maintaining maintenance records, and overseeing and leading the work of staff and contractors. The Tech I exercises technical direction over and provides training to assigned staff.

Building Maintenance Technician II (2 vacancies) Salary Range: $3,801-$4,814 monthly.

If you have the equivalent to a high school diploma and more than 1 year of experience in commercial custodial services, you may be a great match for the Building Maintenance Technician II position! The Tech II performs increasingly responsible custodial support work such as performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. The Tech II exercises no supervision of other staff.

Applicants who are bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and current or former THPRD employees are encouraged to apply!

The Building Maintenance Tech II:
Cleans assigned facility using basic custodial techniques such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, window washing, and carpet cleaning.

Delivers and sets up equipment, supplies, tables, and chairs.

Assists in preparing reports, both oral and written, on building condition and needs; notifies immediate supervisor of any problems or concerns.

Assists in performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance including: painting, changing light bulbs, unclogging sinks, drains and toilets, replacing flush valves, door knobs, door stops, chair glides and table legs.

In addition to the above, the Maintenance Tech I:
Plans, schedules, prioritizes, and assigns maintenance and custodial work to assigned staff and contractors

Coordinates and communicates with center staff to develop work plans, procedures, and schedules to meet maintenance needs and goals and in accordance with established special operational priorities.

Solicits bids; orders supplies and equipment; works with vendors to identify more cost-effective supplies and equipment; maintains records of purchase orders; assists in developing budget; monitors expenditures.

Successful applicants will have knowledge and experience in:
Safely and effectively use and operate a variety of custodial equipment.

Cleaning and caring for assigned facilities and equipment.

Use and minor maintenance of tools and equipment used in custodial support work.

Anticipated recruitment timeline:

Onsite Practical Assessment: Week of October 18

Phone Interviews: Week of October 25

Final Interviews: Week of November 11

This position is non-exempt and is represented by a labor union (Oregon School Employees Association.) Total compensation also includes an exceptional benefit package including fully-paid family medical and dental care contributions, generous paid time off, and meaningful work.

THPRD offers a hybrid pension plan (not PERS) that provides for both a defined benefit pension plan at age 65 of 1.5% paid by the employer and a defined contribution plan that is funded by a mandatory 6% employee contribution that employees are immediately vested in.
