Overview

Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.

This project (REGAKAN – Paths of memory and emancipation in Northern Iraq) is funded by CEI (Conferenza Episcopale Italiana) which is the episcopal conference of the Italian bishops of the Catholic Church. The project objective is to promote job placement and economic development in the governorates of northern Iraq through the enhancement of emerging and not yet saturated sectors, mitigating the negative effects on the real economy of the confinement imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The expected outputs are; promote access to work for the resident population through training in the tourism sector and setting up a widespread hospitality network in the governorate of Sulaimaniyah, with the support of the monastery of Maryam Al-Adra, promote access to sites of particular cultural and environmental interest, promote access to work for the population residing in Erbil through specific trainings and internships in emerging sectors (humanitarian sector, new technologies).

UPP is interested in hiring an experienced business coach in order to support our grantees in the project. S/he will be working under direct supervision of the project manager

The business coach will provide training on assessment, planning and implementation of their projects to grantees/selected applicants

He/she will mentor them during the implementation to guarantee success of their projects

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing grantees with advice on new plans and strategies.
  • Keeping grantees accountable and motivated.
  • Communicating with grantees to better understand their vision and goals.
  • Assisting grantees with their company growth, goals and plan development.
  • Assessing a grantees strengths and weaknesses and guide development.
  • Provide training to selected applicants on how to assess, plan and implement their projects.
  • Helping grantees grow their business from inception.
  • Assisting grantees in using their personal skills for the betterment of their business.
  • Guiding grantees in the completion of strategic business growth tasks.
  • Monitoring business growth and establish methods for improvement.
  • Analysing strategic plans that have contributed to the grantees’ business successes and/or failures.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education: 

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration.

 

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • Must have a background on eco-tourism and sustainability projects
  • At least 2 years of experience in coaching
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with NGOs
  • Previous experience working with IDPs or Refugee populations.
  • Computer literacy skills, including ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Project & database Management software.
  • Strong autonomy and coordination skills.
  • Multitasking skills.

 

Knowledge: 

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Self-reliant and able to work independently.
  • Literacy in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Personal integrity and credibility
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Report writing
  • Excellent analysis skills

Languages:

  • Required excellent oral and written Kurdish, Arabic and English
