RTI is currently accepting applications for the position of Project Associate to support our work in International Education. The successful candidate will provide entry-level operational and, if needed, technical support in all aspects of home office project management and implementation and support business development for the division. The Project Associate will work on tasks in support of RTI’s international education program, and in all cases will work as a member of the education team and in support of the program’s goals.
The successful candidate will excel at planning and organizing their work, while maintaining a positive and productive attitude with other team members in a fast-paced and demanding environment. The candidate must be energetic and show initiative, demonstrate a willingness to take on challenges, while appreciating the scope of the position and role within the team.
This position preferably will be based in Research Triangle Park, NC, but Washington, DC will be considered. Position may require international travel.
Essential Duties:
Provide project management and operational support to projects and project management teams ensuring project management effectiveness and compliance with RTI and donor regulations.
Develop and maintain project management schedules, trackers, work plans, and other general project management resources.
Monitor and report on project and subcontractor budgets and cost performance.
Ensure project files and records are complete, accurate and compliant with RTI and donor requirements.
May support budget formulation, monitoring and reporting support.
Review project costs to ensure compliance with procurement and finance procedures, identify challenges and errors, and work with field-based staff to find solutions.
Provide technical assistance support to projects as defined by the Project Coordinator and/or Project or Activity Manager.
Liaise and coordinate support services from Project Management Support Office and business partners.
Gather inputs from various sources to draft project reports and other project or technical communications.
Monitor and lead correction process to ensure project documentation, deliverables and data are maintained consistently in accordance with policies and standards.
Provide administrative support to projects including coordinating meetings, agendas, and taking notes.
Provide logistical support for travel needs and approvals.
Support business and proposal development needs of the assigned program as directed by the Portfolio Manager.
Perform other program, proposal, and/or project support duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in education, international development, business administration, or relevant discipline with 1 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in project administration and management in international development.
Understanding and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
Experience working with project management teams and/or in a matrixed environment.
Experience working with and/or managing budgets.
Ability to operate across multiple time zones and in a virtual format, and strong digital literacy.
Interest in international education and/or project management.
Culturally sensitive and respectful, able to work well with individuals from different backgrounds.
Proficiency in an additional language, particularly Spanish, French, or Arabic a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

The anticipated pay range for this role is between $50,000-60,000.
