The Job Opportunity

The DYSIM Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of all operational training within the Baghdad Area Control Centre and Baghdad Tower. The post reports to the ATC Operations Manager, but interfaces very closely with the ICAA Director of ATS and other ICAA managers

 

Key accountabilities

  • Development and monitor training procedures to ensure that the provision of ATS is fully compliant with National and International standards and recommended practices.
  • Develop and implement competency programs and checks and monitor the operational standards and status of all ATCOs to ensure that all relevant training and competency requirements are completed as required.
  • Ensure that all Operational training is delivered on a consistent and professional manner by Serco OJTIs
  • Ensure that all OJTIs act in a professional and exemplary manner at all times.
  • Develop and implement competency programs and checks and monitor the operational standards and status of all ATCOs to ensure that all relevant training and competency requirements are completed as required.

 

What we are looking for in our candidates:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant ICAO documentation, in particular Annex 2, Annex 11, Doc 4444, Doc 9859 and Doc 8585
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ATC procedures, standards maintenance, OJT training
  • Good Knowledge of classroom and simulator training procedures and processes.
  • Ability to maintain a Simulator and Operational training programs.
  • Able to develop schedule and direct operational training.
  • Flexibility, excellent attention to detail, ability to identify key issues and manage an environment of regular change.

 

Specific requirements

  • ATC operational experience in an area, approach or aerodrome environment.
  • Experience in managing a department and its staff to meet targeted objectives.
  • Experience in the implementation / development and maintenance of an ATCO training program.
  • Experience in building strong relationships and positively influencing clients.
  • Ability to manage, direct and motivate direct reports and frontline personnel.
  • Conversant with the requirements of all current relevant legislation.

 

Note: Serco staff working in Baghdad are required to live in a purpose built camp and due to security restrictions are not permitted to leave the Baghdad International Airport secure zone. Individuals should therefore possess the temperament to live and work within a closed community.
