Overview
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.
This project (REGAKAN – Paths of memory and emancipation in Northern Iraq) is funded by CEI (Conferenza Episcopale Italiana) which is the episcopal conference of the Italian bishops of the Catholic Church. The project objective is to promote job placement and economic development in the governorates of northern Iraq through the enhancement of emerging and not yet saturated sectors, mitigating the negative effects on the real economy of the confinement imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The expected outputs are; promote access to work for the resident population through training in the tourism sector and setting up a widespread hospitality network in the governorate of Sulaimaniyah, with the support of the monastery of Maryam Al-Adra, promote access to sites of particular cultural and environmental interest, promote access to work for the population residing in Erbil through specific trainings and internships in emerging sectors (humanitarian sector, new technologies).
UPP is interested in hiring an experienced Field Coordinator who will be working in Sulaimaniyah to manage the activities in the field. S/he will be working under direct supervision of project manager and report to him.
The Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring smooth implementation of program and operations’ activities and adherence to logistic, human resource, administration and security procedures.
Responsibilities
- Frequent and daily communication with project manager on daily tasks
- Prepare monthly activities’ plan for the project
- Ensure to implement the activities as per the plan
- Arrange trainings and coordinate with trainers to set up a solid plan for conducting them.
- Follow up with trainers and participants for pre post-tests, feedbacks, and evaluation if needed
- Maintain recording the attendance sheet of participants in the trainings and uploading them to cloud or sharing them with PM
- Prepare monthly reports to project manager by the end of Each month.
- Report problems and challenges at once to project manager in case occurred.
- Pay attention to security and safety measures and inform participants and team about them when visiting the field/sites of intervention.
- Coordination with the project team and Monastery of Mariyam Al-Adra (UPP partner) on arranging the activities/trainings/ courses about venue, refreshment, stationary, etc.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education:
- Masters or Bachelor Degree in Administration or related field
Experience:
- At least 3 years’ previous field experience in NGO, ideally in a similar role.
- Minimum of one year of previous experience in an NGO in managerial position.
- Previous experience in security management.
- Computer literacy skills, including ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Project & database Management software.
- Strong autonomy and coordination skills.
- Multitasking skills.
Knowledge:
- Substantial knowledge regarding the program management on field level.
- Substantial knowledge of standard logistics procedures and practices required
- Good understanding of financial and HR procedures required
- Excellent communication and representative skills (written, oral, cross-cultural)
- Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.
- Ability to adapt within the working environment.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Ability to travel to the project sites and stay overnight if needed.
- Second language skills highly recommended and for some missions required.
Languages:
- Required excellent oral and written Kurdish, Arabic and English
