Lead Instrument Engineer

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE.  Responsible for the project related C&I works in Atrush, maintenance, support / fault finding and modification of the various ESD/FGS, DCS and PLC systems on site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce site work – packs and ensure that the work is carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with Scope of Work, approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards
• Accept construction handover of mechanically complete systems and review associated documentation completion.
• Initiate, develop, produce, and manage Instrumentation & Control Engineering Deliverables including but not necessarily limited to Instrument Datasheets, F&G Datasheets, Cause & Effect Matrix, Instrument Cable Block Diagrams, Instrument Cable Schedules, Instrument Index, IO Lists, PLC Power & Internal Wiring drgs, Instrument
• Hook-up drgs, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Interconnection drgs, IO Module Wiring Diagrams, Panel & JB
• Termination drgs, Panel & JB Termination drgs, Instrument MTOs etc. for review by TAQA Engineering Lead.
• Produce Material Take Offs (MTOs) for work packs and Scope of Works
• Supports procurement with technical evaluations for material deliverables
• Produce commissioning test procedures and inspection test records.
• Approve commissioning hand-over of equipment to Operations.
• To supervise site Contractors during the execution of commissioning and construction activities.
• Handle all aspects of I&C Commissioning activities including leading commissioning and supervising site activities & Contractors
• Participate in site construction & commissioning meetings.
• Produce and maintain a daily record of progress of site activities in line with Project schedules.
• Reports to I&C Technical Authority anomalies or contractual deviations committed by Contractor personnel and recommend/seek corrective actions.
• Actively promote safe work practices, raise & input to Permit to Work System.
• Sign work permits on behalf of company and to ensure that contractor’s compliance with conditions fixed on consolidated work permits
• Verify, produce, participate in development, and maintain as-built drawings/documentation.
• Prepare Punch list for finished work prior to hand over to Company by Contractor by paying special attention to all equipment including Quality checks.
• Assist with implementation, design, and execution plant of Management of Change.
• Works closely with other company discipline engineers (Elec./ Mech).
• Report to company project manager on main issues, events at site, progress reporting, trends and recommendation for improvement of problems and preventing accidents occurring as a result of negligence, by enforcing company safety standards on the work site.
• Liaise with the HSE Supervisor on safety related matters.
• Review contractor’s construction plans and schedules including method statements and JSA`s
• Responsible for ensuring company design philosophies for I&C equipment and associated operability is adhered to and promoted to Contractors & Operations.
• Review and update as required and be responsible for design and purchase requisitions for Instrumentation equipment and associated peripheries. Emphasis on adopting existing standards and specifications in current industry use for oil and gas production.
• Ensure the design and procurement of the I&C systems enables project execution and schedule targets are met.
• Ensure that the engineering, installation & commissioning scope is carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with Scope of Work, approved Engineering Standards and Project Specifications.
• Ensure that Electrical Safety and Operability is observed during all site activities and operations
• Provide support to operations on technical I&C matters and training as may be as requested.
• Assist in training of Company technicians and employees, promoting a pro-active skills transfer & development within the Company
• Attend and lead ICSS related Factory Acceptance tests
• Identify and correct automation related problems
• Liaise with vendor support internationally.

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING(S) REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL

• Minimum HNC/HND Qualified Instrumentation Engineer. Ideally Degree Qualified
• Commissioning of Honeywell Experian ICSS Systems
• Siemens PLC S5/7 Experience
• Emerson Delta V Experience
• Allen Bradley PLC 5, and RS Logix Experience
• Experienced in AutoCAD
• Ideally ATEX or Complex Certified
• Proficient with MS and Adobe related software

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL

• Fluent in English Language
• 10 years’ experience in capital expenditure (capex) projects, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
• At least 7 years working on DCS and ESD systems, specifically Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV and Allen Bradley PLC 5
• Ideally sufficiently competent in both electrical and instrument/control to cover both fields of expertise.
• Both E&P Operator experience and EPC contractor experience preferred
• Must be physical fit, the job involves considerable site work at times in adverse weather conditions.
• Able to problem solve, rectify, and document automation related faults while maintaining production rates.
• Root cause analysis and incident report generation.
• Valid driver’s license.
