Information Management Officer

Surveillance Officer – Nutrition (Syrian and/or Turkish only)


Job Purpose

To provide technical support and follow the work plan with the district nutrition officers (DNOs), to achieve the objectives of the program.


Key Responsibilities

o Compile the monthly reports and outputs (4Ws- UNICEF report – monthly bulletin – Payroll– presentations) with Nutrition Surveillance Coordinator and Data Management Officer.

o Follow up any outstanding issues with the District Nutrition Surveillance Officers (DNOs).

o Ensure all district supervisors data have been received on time and merged into central database.

o Ensure the capacities for surveillance, surveys, and response are in place within the system.

o Monitor status of the reporting and the continuance of the database updates.

o Prepare nutrition IEC materials in coordination with the media department.

o Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with agencies and organizations interested in nutrition.

o Supervise the district team in their training plans and addressing logistic shortage.

o Document and address challenges encountered in meeting surveillance expectations.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

A. Essential:

  • University Degree in medicine, pharmacy Public Health or Health Sciences.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in nutritional epidemiology, health/nutrition policy and/or management, or other related science field is required (including 1 years supervisory or management experience).
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English.

B. Desirable:**

  • 2 years of the knowledge on the situation inside Syria and of actors and networks.
