Summary of project

Kurdistan Organization for Human Rights Watch (KOHRW), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and support from the Government of Canada, has been co-implementing the Youth & Creativity – Khotwa Project.

Over the past months, this initiative has been assisting young people (18–35-year-old) with business ideas in both Kirkuk and Mosul in becoming entrepreneurs and becoming capable of creating and sustaining profitable small creative & innovative startup businesses in sectors which will further create employment.

The spirit of the award lies in the pursuit of innovative and productive core business practices that can be an inspiring example for others and help to build the new Iraq.

We are currently at the stage of selecting the top-20 winners out of 100 participants to the business development phase that was conducted in both Mosul & Kirkuk districts. These top-20 winners are to be provided with access to incubation services for 3 months, including an initial 5,000 USD seed grant and official registration of their start-up business for a year.

Incubation Services are planned to officially start on the 1st November 2021 using a hybrid modality (both remotely & physically), and will revolve around support from the following stakeholders:

  1. Thematic Focal Points,
  2. Thematic Field Practitioners,
  3. Young entrepreneurs with enhanced experience,
  4. Potential Investors.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Human Resources / Administrative / Finance / Logistics Focal Point, your role will be to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Supervise and advise on logistics, procurement of required equipment / materials of participants related to their startup businesses,
  • Supervise and advise on HR/Admin tasks of participants related to their startup businesses,
  • Provide one-on-one or collective sessions to participants based on assessed needs. Collective sessions can be organized as well with other kinds of stakeholders (mentioned above).

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Work Experience: at least 2–3-year practical work experience in HR / Admin / Finance / Logistics with national &/or international private sector companies.
  • Academic Knowledge: at least Bachelor’s Graduate in Business / Finance / Commerce / Accounting.
  • Excellent knowledge of Iraqi Labor Law.
  • Language Skills: must be fluent in writing, speaking, reading Arabic language. English language writing, speaking, reading is desirable.
  • Computer Skills: good computer skills in Office Pack, use of Internet and other online tools (Zoom, etc.).
  • Interpersonal Skills: excellent interpersonal, pedagogical, management and teambuilding skills.
  • Problem Solving Skills: should be able to resolve problems and be a good conflict mediator.
