iMMAP is an international non-governmental organization that provides information management services to humanitarian and development organizations. Through information management, we help our partners target assistance to the world’s most vulnerable populations. Background

iMMAP will implement a project funded by the Crisis and Stabilization Centre from the French Ministry of Foreign affairs for a period of 13 months. The project, run from iMMAP office in Erbil, aims at supporting humanitarian actors in building their access strategies. iMMAP Risk Mitigation Resource Centre in Iraq will contribute to increasing humanitarian actors’ understanding of access, mobility and security risks in the areas concentrating the humanitarian response by maintaining up to date its explosive incidents data repository covering all the governorates and districts of Iraq and producing relevant information products for the humanitarian community

Presentation

 

Operational

  • The IMO is responsible for the administration of relevant datasets and/or databases including content, structure, file location, backup system.
  • The IMO will proactively gather information from sector partners, government authorities which may be of use to the sector for informing decisions;
  • The IMO will identify gaps in current implementing partner participants and will engage with NGOs, humanitarian and development organisations to restore renew or join participation in data sharing or IM support.
  • The IMO will identify barriers for information collection, collation, analysis and sharing.
  • The IMO will ensure timely preparation and generation of information products, and support on information sharing and dissemination through web platforms to all relevant humanitarian implementing partners.
  • The IMO will adopt appropriate existing IM tools including that available in-country (including from other sectors) and global level. As appropriate, design of data collection forms, ensuring that the purpose and use of all data collected is clear, collectable and easily collectable, highlighting where potential problems might arise; organise and manage the data input and initial analysis and presentation of data for the sector;
  • The IMO will develop standard formats for, and regular output of publication of materials and statistics highlighting the humanitarian situation in-country upon request.
  • The IMO will facilitate mobile data collection, from development and data management.
  • The IMO will generate statistical reports, graphs, maps and follow up on cluster-specific trends.
  • The IMO will support new and ongoing assessments.
  • The IMO is responsible for the administration of relevant datasets and/or databases including content, structure, file location, backup system.
  • Collect and consolidate data from various partners, prepare and submit reports on regular bases
  • Produce, share maps illustrating scale/coverage of assistance
  • Record, document and share coordination meeting minutes
  • Design software/tools and dashboard to share IM products with other UN clusters and humanitarian NGOs.
  •  Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor

 

Mapping – specific

  • The IMO will develop maps of 4Ws, sector resources, needs, Gaps per location;
  • The IMO will maintain geospatial databases and ensure data quality and integrity through the use of automated and manual techniques to enter, edit and process data sets; 

Representation

  • Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and humanitarian events related to activities of iMMAP Iraq including but not limited to IMWG and humanitarian crisis forums.
  • The IMO will provide specific, sometimes dedicated, support to other agencies when required.

Capacity building / Training – specific

  • The IMO will mentor to build capacity to include but not be limited to:
  • GIS and data management
  • Geospatial analysis and data analysis
  • Participate in the implementation of trainings, meetings, conferences, workshops, and all IM activities planned by the iMMAP Iraq team.

Education

  • Graduate of an Institute or University in the field of Information Technology, Information Management, or Computer Sciences or any similar field
  • At least 5 years of working experience with GIS on-field operational level and in a multi-cultural environment.

Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of database and GIS software, and computer networks, Good knowledge of related hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian information management, GIS, database management, data visualization, or data analysis is required.
  • Understanding data QA/QC processes for information management are essential.
  • Hold advanced skills in MS-Access, MS SQL Server, Web design.
  • Good knowledge of software engineering theory and applications would be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of programming theory and relational database principles.

Soft skills

  • Ability to coordinate with local administrators, government, NGOs working with community projects, and agencies involved.
  • Ability to work under pressure and long hours at different locations.
  • Flexible and adaptable to any situation.
  • Self-reliant and able to work independently.
