Job Description:
Navanti is looking for a Food Security Analyst to work with our multidisciplinary team who can use his/her knowledge of food security, nutrition, humanitarian emergencies, public health, agriculture, environmental, economic, security, development, and sociocultural issues within the region. Candidates are preferred to have knowledge of the Middle East/North Africa, the Sahel, or West Africa with respect to these or other related fields. Candidates should have theoretical and experiential knowledge of social science field research methods as applied in the region and be able to critically review and analyze data from multiple sources. The candidate will assist in ground data collection, field management and data quality control. The candidate will be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative information from open sources, cleaning and analyzing data, and writing analytical products.
Minimum Qualifications
Desired Skills and Experience:
Excellent writing skills
Interest in food security, nutrition, humanitarian emergencies, public health, agriculture, economics, political science, social anthropology, development, or the environment
Familiarity with household-level food security analysis, livelihoods analysis, or market price monitoring preferred
Demonstrated ability in quantitative and qualitative research methods
Some proficiency in statistics
Goal oriented and capable of working under tight deadlines
Strong team player
Interest in the Middle East/North Africa, the Sahel, or West Africa preferred
Education:
BA/BS minimum; MA in related area of study preferred
Clearance:
None required; ability to receive and maintain a minimum Secret clearance preferred
Language:
Reading and writing proficiency in Arabic preferred
