Job Description:
The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Bilingual English/Arabic WIC Degreed Nutritionist for our El Cajon, CA location. This is a full time, hourly position and you must be willing to work flexible hours as needed. A valid driver’s license is required!
Provides direct nutrition services to individual clients and small groups enrolled in the WIC Program. Certifies WIC participants; interprets WIC services to the community; functions in various positions as needed; complies with ARC WIC policies and procedures; and performs related duties as may be assigned.
Coordinate assigned casework services for clients and their families. Act as a liaison between client/family, Red Cross and external agencies/organizations to ensure necessary assistance is provided promptly and effectively. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
Responsibilities:
1: Conduct assessment to determine level of assistance and establish eligibility requirements for services. Create case plans that involve actions for positive outcomes for clients impacted by disaster, emergency, stress and/or loss.
2: Identify and assist client and family in casework process for services through the Red Cross and/or other agencies/organizations. Assess eligibility for financial assistance and processes.
3: Identify and address psychosocial needs of client and family members. Assist with coping skills, stress management and anticipatory grief and grief reaction.
4: Provide ongoing support for client and family. Monitor and document status.
5: Maintain accurate client/family service statistics and generate reports in accordance with organization standards. Track metrics using Client Assistance System or other database.
6: Identify, develop and maintain key relationships with external partners to promote Red Cross services and programs.
Scope: Individual contributor that works under close supervision. Uses technical knowledge to solve routine types of problems.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or other Nutrition related field. Accepting applications for Degreed Nutritionists and Registered Dietitian.
Experience:
Knowledge of the WIC program and maternal child health preferred.
Must have experience working with the public.
Must have the ability to work well in a fast paced environment and to work with a multi-cultural staff and participant population.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal/written communication skills required.
Confident using Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word.
Able to create a professional videoconferencing presence and to communicate clearly in-person and by phone.
Able to teach groups of people about various topics.
Bilingual in Arabic/English required.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small space and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
