1. Role and responsibilities
Generic responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Implement delegated Livelihoods project portfolio related to agricultural value chains according to work plans
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
Support with referrals to other NRC sectors or through external referral mechanisms
Specific responsibilities:
- Support AMAL’s Project Officer for Markets and Skills in selected villages in Tuz District:
- Follow NRC’s beneficiary selection SOP to identify and select beneficiaries for AMAL
- Closely oversee, visit, mentor, coach and monitor directly and in-person the development of agro-livelihoods and agro-businesses (small and medium-size) which are receiving grants from NRC under the AMAL-project
- Organize and oversee the training sessions to receivers of livelihood- / business grants (e.g., on business development, basics in business economics, marketing strategies) and pass on requested needs and preferences for additional training topics AMAL’s PO or PC Agriculture and Livelihoods
- Provide regular reports and feed-backs on progress and potential as well as constraints and weaknesses for each business receiving a grant under AMAL
- Closely oversee and monitor job placements, internships, newly created employments
- Search actively for employment opportunities directly and indirectly linked to agriculture to which beneficiaries could be linked to
- Contribute with information, quality data, reports and success stories to Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports and NRC’s M&E department
- Support AMAL’s staff Agriculture / Livelihoods / Infrastructure / Community Mobilization in the field – in case of access problems to Tuz district. But as well NRC’s departments’ Security, Logistic, Finance and M&E as appropriate
2. Our Ideal Candidate:
- Graduated in Business Economics and/or Agriculture (business economics, plant production, livestock husbandry). Proven work experience might be considered as a substitute for formal education
- 2-3 years’ experience of working in Livelihood Projects in a humanitarian/recovery context preferably related to agriculture.
- Demonstrated practical experience in business development, employment promotion and overseeing / coaching of businesses
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
- Demonstrated results implementing and tracking field-based activities
- Experience conducting project inceptions with communities
- Experience conducting beneficiary identification, verification and registration
- Experience supporting referrals and/or identifying service providers
3. Other information:
Contract Duration: 12 months
Duty Station: Kirkuk-Tuz- Iraq
Health Insurance is provided
Salary: G4/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
