Position Summary:
The Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies, Villanova University, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position to teach undergraduate Arabic courses beginning in Fall 2022. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor if the successful candidate has completed the Ph.D. and at the rank of instructor for the holder of a master’s degree.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to teach all levels of Modern Standard Arabic is required; additional ability to offer courses in one of the main colloquial dialects is strongly preferred. In addition to student advising, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Arab and Islamic Studies and Arabic Language and Culture programs and offer occasional courses in her/his/their own specialty.
Minimum Qualifications:
Native or near-native fluency in Arabic and English are required. Candidates must have an advanced degree in a relevant subject and demonstrable evidence of sustained and successful college Arabic teaching experience. The teaching load is 24 credits (a 4/4 course schedule) per year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in Arabic but other specializations such as literature, anthropology, or media studies will also be considered.
