Program Summary

Tracing Health was launched in response to the public health emergency pandemic of COVID-19. Our services include contact tracing and scientific support to counties and local health departments. Our highly-trained employees counsel contacts and connect them to community resources for the successful implementation of quarantine.

Position Summary

The Public Health Institute (PHI) is organizing teams of community COVID-19 staff across the Pacific Northwest as a key strategy for preventing further spread of COVID-19.

The Bilingual Community Care Specialist I works to limit the spread of COVID-19 by interviewing and providing health education and information to individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19; individuals who have been in contact with someone who has tested positive; and individuals seeking general COVID-19 information, vaccine information or access to the vaccine. The Bilingual Community Care Specialist I will be provided with scripts, databases, and other work tools, as well as training needed to successfully perform the duties associated with this role. The Bilingual Community Care Specialist I must comply with policies and procedures provided by PHI and comply with human subjects training regarding confidential information related to personal information.

Position is contingent upon program award to PHI and funding availability

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Participate in provided training to become familiar with scripts, COVID-19 health education concepts, and PHI procedures.

COVID-19), contacts (people who have been in close contact with cases), and members of the public seeking information about COVID-19 vaccines.

As directed by local public health department, help cases recall everyone with whom they have had close contact during the timeframe while they may have been infectious; call contacts of cases to discuss potential exposure and provide education; and monitor cases and contacts daily for the duration of their isolation or quarantine period.

Call cases and contacts to gather information; provide health education and information on isolation and quarantine guidelines; refer individuals to COVID-19 testing; and offer resources to support adherence to quarantine and isolation guidelines.

Accurately enter information collected during calls into the relevant database according to PHI procedures. As directed by supervisor, research and correct data errors in databases.

As directed by local public health department, schedule vaccine appointments for individuals and organizations according to eligibility and prioritization by the local jurisdiction.

Respond to emails, incoming calls and voicemails left on PHI and/or health department inquiry hotlines by providing general COVID-19 health education, referrals for quarantine and isolation resources, vaccine information, scheduling vaccination appointments, and other related matters.

Refer callers who need medical attention or medical information support to the appropriate medical resource.

Communicate with members of the public in a professional and empathetic manner.

Maintain contact with team supervisor and assigned team by regularly engaging on channels of communication, including email, phone, and Microsoft Teams, team meetings, etc.

Conduct other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.

Ability to communicate verbally in an effective and empathetic manner.

Fluency in a second language or in multiple languages required, with a preference for Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Marshallese, Chuukese, Vietnamese, Somali, and Arabic. Please indicate the languages spoken in your application and/or cover letter.

Excellent organizational skills.

Good critical thinking skills.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record information.

Proficiency with computer software and ability to learn how to use a CRM.

Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure work activities are conducted efficiently and professionally.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in clinical medicine, public health, or community health a plus.

Prior experience in contact tracing.

Important Information

Must have a flexible schedule. Schedule may vary depending upon identified business needs.

Must be available to work weekends AND evenings.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position.

The pay rate for this position is $23.92 per hour.

This is a remote position and the preferred locations of candidates are in Pacific Northwest.
