Position: Business support trainer for Micro Enetrprises in EL – Talafer and Hawija

Supervisor: Project Coordinator

Targeted areas:Talafer , Nineveh and Hawija, Kirkuk.

Number of positions: 1

 

Duration, place of work and working hours:

The contract duration is for a period of 2 months( part-time) with specific arrangements agreed with supervising manager. The position is based Talafer , Nineveh, with occasional travel to Hawija, Kirkuk.

Remuneration:

900 USD per month of works including transportation allowance

Background

People in Need (PIN) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance in over 20 countries worldwide. Formed in 1992 in the Czech Republic, PIN has grown to be the biggest organisation of its kind in post-communist Europe, providing relief where it is needed, and empowering civil society at home and abroad.

PIN is maintaining a strong presence in Iraq, and has gradually extended its activities across the Governorates of Ninewa, Salah Al-din, Kirkuk and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Typical recipients of our aid are internally displaced persons, returnees, and people who survived the fighting near their homes and meet the pre-defined criteria of vulnerability.

Apart from humanitarian aid, PIN is currently working on long-term programmes supporting restoring livelihoods, education, access to water and hygiene. These programmes should facilitate people´s return to their original homes and support the stabilisation process after the defeat and removal of IS

Program Overview:

PIN is implementing an IHF OCHA funded project working on strengthening of food security and livelihoods in rural Talafer, Ninewa and Hawija,  Kirkuk.  As part of the initial stages of the project 131 beneficiaries will be selected for a Cash for work program on cleaning and light rehabilitation of community infrastructure. PIN will work to strengthen business environment in the given areas by supporting 15 small scale business and also organize extensive Training of Trainers for  business extension.

This position is required for the project component of Small business, in which the recruited consultant trainers will develop the curriculum used for support the team in their selection, support businesses in the development of their business plan canvass, conduct training for participants on business management and market awareness, provide ongoing mentorship to recipients of small business grants (15 small businesses per consultant trainer), monitor their performance, and develop a report on the implementation of the business support activity.

 

 

Tasks of the consultant trainer:

 

  • Assist PIN team in finalizing the beneficiary selection from pre-identified candidates, conduct capacity assessment and business canvass exercise.
  • Based on their experience and objectives of the training, design (or adapt existing) training materials for the duration of the course.
  • Develop a plan of targeted support for 15 participating small business, including topics for capacity building for individual and group training exercises
  • Support micro-enetrprises in securing enccessary administration where required.
  • Deliver 2-months mentorship services (oneline/ and in person sessions on selected support topics, timeline and structure of delivery to be agreed with PIN team)
  • Utilise available knowledge and information on business development and sustainability and on value chain and market conditions in Nineveh and Kirkuk.
  • Utilise PIN best approaches towards businesses development support facilitated by PIN team.
  • Regularly update the project team on the implementation of the business development support, including recommendations and suggestions for adjustment.
  • Develop a short mid-term as well as final report on the implementation of the business development support activity.
  • Submit timely all the relevant documents like beneficiary lists, photos, attendance lists, etc.
  • Ensure that all project-related data are properly, safely and regularly submitted to the line manager
  • Liaise with partner stakeholders when/if needed
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager.

 

Available assets

The training consultants will be able to rely on:

 

  • IT equipment for their own use and for the delivery of training .

Remuneration structure:

 

Consultant trainers will be paid on a monthly basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Masters degree (or equivalent) in relevant discipline (business management, etc.), or Bachelor degree equivalent with substantive experience related to the solicited activities is required.
  • Knowledge of market conditions and business environment in Northern Salah al Din is required
  • At least 3 years of experience working on capacity building and business support for micro and small enterprises, preferably in food retail sector
  • Knowledge of business support tools and methodologies
  • Fluent in Arabic and intermediary English language.
  • Able to travel to field locations in areas of responsibility, as noted above
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to speak/communicate professionally with project participants and stakeholders.
  • NGO and organizational experience is an advantage – aware on the general rules and regulations of the organization, commitments towards neutrality and safeguarding throughout the organisations project activities.
  • Able to adapt within a work environment containing individuals of multiple and various cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and understanding of working with individuals with vulnerability.
  • Ability to plan activities and follow accordingly.
  • Timeliness in the delivery of outputs and respect towards agreed schedules.
