The CBA supports the Capacity Building Program, with the aim to enhance professional capacities within the organization and the countries Jiyan Foundation works in. The CBA is part of the CB team (currently three members: Seminar Program Coordinator and Capacity Building Officer in Sulaymaniyah as well as HoCB in Berlin). Responsibilities and duties include:

  1. Facilitate the preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of capacity building, training and supervision activities in Baghdad, both for Jiyan staff and external professionals;
  2. Plan, coordinate and organize local face-to-face trainings in cooperation with CM, including hotel and venue booking, transport of participants, technical support for trainers and participants, keeping track of due implementation or possible challenges;
  3. Coordinate translation of training materials, interpretation, preparation of evaluations and participant attendance sheets;
  4. Prepare and support remote capacity building, such as trainings or seminars via Zoom;
  5. Administrative tasks, such as regular reporting, documentation of trainings, contracting;
  6. Cooperate with the CB team, HoPs, CMs, accountants, administration, project coordination and M&E staff;
  7. Find suitable training opportunities for Jiyan staff in Baghdad and online;
  8. Approach external mental health stakeholders in Iraq and arrange their participation in Jiyan Seminar Program for External Professionals;
  9. Prepare written input for project proposals and donor reporting upon request by HoCB;
  10. Remotely support the Program for Capacity Building also in other locations Jiyan works in, with occasional travels;
  11. Networking and communication, such as attendance of meetings, communication with trainers, building new partnerships.
  1. Very good Arabic and English skills in listening, speaking, and writing; Kurdish considered an asset;
  2. Completed bachelor’s degree or higher;
  3. Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, email communication, and online video conferencing (e.g. Zoom);
  4. Care for detail and organizational skills, also under time pressure;
  5. Very good communication skills;
  6. High level of self-organization, commitment, and reliability;
  7. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team, cooperation with other staff
    members, centers and external partners;
  8. Prior work experience with non-profit organizations or project management considered an asset;
  9. Readiness to travel, including multi-day trips nationally and internationally;
  10. Active interest in promoting human rights and social justice; awareness of current relevant events both nationally and internationally.
