Child Protection Project Coordinator (short-term)

The Child Protection Project Coordinator will support the USAID/BHA-funded Capacity Building of the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action Workforce during COVID-19 Project. This person will be responsible for project administration, coordinating vendors, shepherding the review, production, and finalization of project deliverables, organizing webinars and launch events, and reporting. In addition, the Consultant will be involved in the technical review of resources produced under the project. S/he will report to Plan International USA’s DRM Manager (C.P. Specialist).

The Child Protection Project Coordinator will be responsible for the management and finalization of deliverables for Plan International’s Building Capacity of CPHA Practitioners to Respond in Times of COVID-19 grant. This grant funds a 12-month project to drive learning and development initiatives to ensure the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) workforce is better equipped to adapt child protection (CP) programming in the context of COVID-19. The Child Protection Project Coordinator will have the ability to work remotely.

Key responsibilities: *
Implementation of the BHA Grant

  • Support the L&D Coordinator in disseminating the MOOC course to CPHA practitioners globally, ensuring advertisement of the course through a variety of channels.
  • Organize a CP & COVID-19 online learning series, in coordination with the L&D WG Coordinator, to roll out developed capacity building resources.
  • Broadly disseminate resources and training through online webinars, web content, and via global events and meetings (regional and global events).
  • Coordinate vendors to ensure timely, quality completion of deliverables in accordance with agreed upon deadlines
  • Coordinate review process for project deliverables, ensuring proper sign off at the level of the Alliance prior to sharing with donor for branding and marking approval.

Networking and Representation

  • Actively participate in the Learning and Development Working Group as part of the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.

Grant Management

  • Draft monthly and semi-annual project narrative reports for the donor and review quarterly budget reports to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Work with MERL team, DRM Manager, and MOOC Moderator to track progress towards indicators.
  • Provide regular updates to the Disaster Risk Management Manager at Plan International USA on the status of the project.
  • Support the communication with USAID/BHA (provide regular updates on project progress and achievements, organise workshops in the USA to present the guidance and related tools, etc.).

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience with organizations in Child Protection in Emergencies or similar fields.
  • University degree in international development, human rights, social sciences or related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with experience in participatory and inter-agency approaches.
  • Experience in grant management, budget monitoring, monitoring and reporting, etc. (preferably with USA donors).
  • Ability to think creatively and to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of the Child Protection Minimum Standards and their role within the child protection in humanitarian action programming
  • Experience working at an inter-agency level.

Preferred:

  • Experience in developing inter-agency pieces of work and ability to coordinate the review and production of multiple inter-agency resources simultaneously.
  • French, Arabic, or Spanish speaking/written skills.
  • Previous experience with USAID (including BHA), State Department (including BPRM and DRL), and other US government donors.
