Under the supervision of LHH Project Manager and the Job Counselor, Childcare assistant is responsible for:
Objective 1: Ensure activities with children during the parent’s training period
- Set up and remove requisites and equipment used for children activities, and keep storage areas tidy and organized. Ensure furniture, floor coverings, toys and equipment are kept clean and properly maintained following safe and hygienic standard;
- Organize activities and developing curriculum for older children;
- Ensure children are kept away from risks by promoting safety and hygiene;
- Develop a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day;
- Refer cases for legal counselling and protection following IASC guidelines;
- Involving the families if and when needed for most vulnerable cases;
- Keep abreast of principles, legal requirements, and policies regarding to health and safety, child protection, and report and act on situations that may impact on children well-being.
Objective 2: Security
- Respect the security rules specified in the mission and the base security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols;
- Communicate to the security referent of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan.
Objective 3: Support all COOPI activities
- Support emergency interventions, as per the employee’s competences;
- Support any activity that helps achieving COOPI humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s capacities;
- Participate in new assessments;
- Support other activities if it is needed;
Note: This job description is not exhaustive and may be changed or amended by the LHH Program Manager when necessary, according to the base needs.
Experience
- University degree on Social Science, Education, Psychology or related qualifications;
- Experience in the same position or as social worker for at least 2 years;
- Previous working experience with NGOs and good knowledge in humanitarian aid system and procedures. (minimum 1 year).
Skills & Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of practices and procedures for maintaining safety in classrooms and playgrounds;
- Ability to create a stimulating, caring, safe, and enjoyable learning environment for children;
- Ability to apply discretion, tact, patience, and courtesy in handling sensitive and difficult situations and individuals;
- Effective communication skills.

- Native Arabic language;
- Good level of English language, both written and spoken;
