Job Summary


The Global Communications Coordinator, EMEA, will be responsible for developing written and visual content for assigned communications programs, coordinating participation in events and conferences, and supporting media relations for EMEA.

In addition, this individual will contribute to larger visibility programs and help create and drive global communications strategies. This position reports to the Communications Director, EMEA.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Coordinate and track speaking opportunities and events for ICANN representatives in EMEA.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and ICANN community members.
  • Produce graphics for presentations and social media using tools including Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign.
  • Proofread documents prior to publication to ensure language aligns with ICANN and AP styles and that branding guidelines have been followed.
  • Assist in the publication of EMEA regional newsletters.
  • Create posts for organic campaigns across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, SlideShare, SoundCloud.
  • Run paid campaigns and providing post-campaign social media reports.
  • Create social media reports for all platforms.
  • Monitor and track media coverage in the EMEA.
  • Manage media inquiries and contribute to proactive media relations for EMEA.
  • Assist in the writing and distribution of announcements and media advisories.
  • Maintain the media contact database for EMEA.
  • Update ICANN.org homepage and other feature items, publish announcements and blogs.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):  

  • Two years of Communications experience.
  • Knowledge of public relations best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Good working knowledge of Creative Suite – InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write effectively on deadline.
  • Working understanding of and experience in media relations, social media (strategy and execution), and proven skills in Adobe Creative Suite graphics programs.
  • Ability to travel internationally, work flexible hours, and coordinate with different time zones.
  • Basic graphic designing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, and to establish and follow through on priorities.
  • Ability to quickly learn the ICANN environment.
  • Detail orientation is a must.
  • Able to manage continuous change in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and to adjust to the demands of media deadlines in different time zones.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Journalism, Communications, or a related field desired.
  • Minimum two years of related work experience required.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English and Turkish; other official United Nations Languages are a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Work Location is Istanbul, Turkey.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to travel without restrictions globally, frequently and limited notice is a must.
