Community Health Worker – COVID-19 Testing & Vaccine Clinic Support

English required. Fluent in one of the following languages preferred:

Arabic, Burmese, Chuukese, Congolese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili,

Tongan or Vietnamese languages.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Function as a member of the health team, supporting IRCO’s COVID-19 testing and vaccination

clinics. Provides essential pandemic testing and vaccine support to underserved community

members. Provides excellent customer service, ensures accurate information is given to

patients, assists with patient screening, and assists with set up and patient flow through busy

testing and immunization clinics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide excellent customer service to community members who are coming to testing

and vaccination sites

  • Assist with physical set up of testing and vaccination clinic and preparation of materials

needed for post testing and vaccine administration

  • Prepare and print patient handouts and vaccine related paperwork
  • Prescreen patients for any illness symptoms prior to admission to vaccination site
  • Assist patients to complete screening forms prior to receiving immunization
  • Greet and escort patients into testing or vaccination clinics and/or direct to open

stations

  • Assist outside with traffic and/or patient flow
  • Complete immunization card documenting dose vaccine dose and provide to patient,

along with education on importance of maintaining vaccination card

  • Assist nurses or vaccinators by loading/unloading medical supplies, decontamination of

vaccine areas, and escorting patients after vaccination

  • Access telephone interpreter to assist non‐English speaking patients as needed
  • Assist RN with observation of patients in post vaccine waiting area

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with community outreach efforts by contacting patients who are due for first or

second dose of COVID 19 vaccine and scheduling appointments

  • Employee will be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities

as dictated by events and circumstances

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience in a primary care setting is preferred
  • Fluency in English and 2nd language highly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a

diverse work force and community base

  • Self‐Disciplined, mature, independent, highly organized with outstanding

communication skills

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality with all aspects of information in accordance

with practice, State and Federal regulations

KNOWLEDGE:
Education: Some college course work (2)

Experience: Less than one year of experience is required (2)

Licensure, Certification: CHW certification perferred

Additional Language Required: English required. Fluent in one of the following languages

preferred: Arabic, Burmese, Chuukese, Congolese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tongan or

Vietnamese languages.

Computers: All positions at IRCO require use of a computer and experience working with

Microsoft Products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook and

PowerPoint.

Work Independence:

Planning:
Positions at this level have little to no planning responsibility beyond the need to schedule own

work and determine impediments to own work schedule. (1)

Supervision:
Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities, but

may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers. (1)

WORKING CONDITIONS:Environment:
There is a moderately low level of personal risk encountered. Job conditions are occasionally

uncomfortable relative to noise, temperature, inside/outside work, or interactions with people

experiencing crisis (3)

Schedule:
The work schedule occasionally fluctuates based on organization or customer needs. This

fluctuation may occur with or without prior notice. (3)
