About the job

 This role has focused on the Al-Mansour area in Mosul and ensures compliance with procedures. The role contributes to the implementation of protection strategies for Al-Mansour, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.
In this role, the employee will; Support the implementation of psychosocial support (PSS), actively reach out to community members and potential PSS beneficiaries, identify vulnerable people in need of PSS or case management services, and support implementation of protection monitoring activities and identification of protection concerns.

 

Reporting structure

For day to day, operational management requirements the Community Outreach Worker reports directly to the AAF Field Officer or any other designated person appointed/instructed by the PM.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in scheduling appointments for survivors at the Psychosocial Support
  • Assist MHPSS Case Manager and other AAF staff in follow-up training on mental health and psychosocial support topics. Actively participate in training and other IMC events.
  • Help organize weekly meetings in order to report information, attend training, and receive instructions regarding activities in the local community.
  • Support MHPSSs and coordinate activities to ensure that MHPSSs stay active and productive in the community.
  • Help MHPSSs to disseminate health and psychosocial awareness to community members at their homes, in the community or at the supported PHC clinics.
  • Ensure proper linkages are made between MHPSSs and other AAF programs such GBV CMs and health staff.
  • Act as the link between the AAF’s multidisciplinary team and the affected population at the community level by reporting community comments or complaints, and by spreading information and performing community mobilization.
  • Gather data and report it on a weekly and daily basis as well as during periodic surveys and help feedback findings to stakeholders and the community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with communities, including local leaders, community-based groups and other stakeholders.
  • Follow up on MH patients and their families through the regular home and community visits.
  • Maintain up to date information regarding contact details and status of community leaders, religious figures, NGO representatives, camp managers, etc Coordinate with the local community and religious leaders and maintain very good relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the community regarding program development and evolution.
  • Report on all tasks and responsibilities including referrals using collection tools provided by AAF.
  • Participate in M&E activities for impact measurement assessment when applicable (surveys, FGD, interviews, community organizing etc.). Ensure monitoring and evaluation activities and reporting meet AAF’s standards and are completed on schedule.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications & preferred skills

  • University degree/, Psychology, Social Work, or related mental health discipline.
  • Previous experience with international or local NGOs.
  • Strong communication skills, Good listening skills.
  • Sensitivity of needs and priority of the different sectors of the community.
  • Trust and wide acceptance by the community.
  • Diplomacy and negotiation skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Strong desire to assist in health and community outreach, and ability to spend time in training and education as needed.
  • Be able to work in multi-cultural Personal interest in humanitarian work.
  • Fluent in spoken Arabic. The English language is preferable.
