Job Summary
The Computer and Job Skills Teacher is responsible for facilitating classes at the Yazidi Empowerment Project (YEP) Community Center to equip men, women, and youth with essential computer and professional skills to improve their employability and performance within the workplace and/or academic setting. Classes will start at an introductory level and progress throughout the year to include intermediate and advanced courses for those wishing to continue their studies. Responsibilities include supporting the development of course material and curricula to fit the interests and proficiency levels of the participants. Samaritan’s Purse is looking for committed, hardworking applicants with a passion to serve people with dignity.
Job Duties:
- Facilitate interactive classes to equip program participants with essential computer and work place skills according to the developed curriculum.
- Work directly with the Program Manager and Education Specialist on curriculum development and modify materials and lesson plans as needed to fit the interests and proficiency levels of participants.
- Evaluate participant progress and provide feedback, technical assistance, and career coaching to students.
- Organize events, field trips, or other opportunities for students to practice new skills or learn from experienced local professionals.
- Keep record of student attendance and follow up on absences within 48 hours.
- Complete timely preparation before each class session to ensure the appropriate materials and supplies are ready.
- Communicate all materials and supplies needed to the Program Manager and assist with purchases according to SPI Finance and Procurement Policies.
- Collaborate with project team to advertise and recruit participants from surrounding community.
- Submit timely and accurate activity reports to the Program Manager.
- Conduct surveys and/or tests to assess understanding and practical application of core course material.
- Report concerns regarding a beneficiary or their family to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
- Attend and contribute to regular team meetings.
- Uphold SP Code of Conduct at all times.

- Advanced knowledge of computers and fundamental computer skills for the workplace – includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to facilitate interactive class sessions for men, women, and youth.

Education / Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Computer Science, Business, or related field
- 1-3 years teaching, training, and/or business experience
- Previous experience working with an NGO preferred
LANGUAGE
- Fluency in Kurdish required.
- Proficiency in English and/or Arabic is a plus.
