Constituency Communications Specialist

For a century, Planned Parenthood has been one of the nation’s leading providers of excellent, affordable health care for women, men, and young people, and the nation’s largest provider of sex education. Planned Parenthood health centers provide contraception, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and lifesavings cancer screenings. We serve women, men, and young people from every community and income level. Our work has staying power. We serve our communities with non-judgmental, compassionate care, no matter what their circumstances.

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) is excited to be adding a Constituency Communications Specialist position to their Communications Team. The PPSAT Communications team leads PPSAT’s public response to issues related to sexual and reproductive health as well as to a wide range of social justice issues. As such, the position requires critical thinking around how external systems impact PPSAT’s work through the lens of structural racism and intersections with reproductive health care and rights.

The Constituency Communications Specialist will execute communications plans, draft messaging, develop relationships with media outlets that reach key audiences, identify partnership opportunities, and develop digital content that supports PPSAT’s overall communication strategy. Additionally, they will hold a key role on the PPSAT Communications team supporting PPSAT’s constituency organizing programs, including the Black Organizing and Muslim Organizing programs and, in partnership with the Communications Director, will focus on engaging key communities PPSAT serves via authentic and culturally competent digital communication and media strategies.

The Constituency Communications Specialist will produce both traditional and digital communications materials tailored to key constituencies, including communities of color, young people, and LGBTQ+ people. They will engage with media outlets that reach these key constituencies, respond to press inquiries, draft press releases, and proactively pitch reporters to promote PPSAT and PPFA initiatives. They will also craft rapid response materials such as statements, tweets, email blasts, and op-eds on issues related to the intersection of sexual and reproductive health with a range of social justice issues.
