Duties and responsibilities:
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Head of UN-Habitat Iraq Programme, and/or his/her designate, the Data Expert) will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Assess the availability of land data in Iraq and compilation, analysis and presentation of secondary data availed in various databases from administrative sources and past household surveys and censuses to examine the status of land tenure security in Iraq
  2. Analyze of primary data and development of related summary graphs and tables on SDG indicator 1.4.2 collected through scheduled surveys and censuses in Iraq.
  3. Prepare a report summarizing analysis and interpretation of existing land data in Iraq
  4. Provide technical support for the integration of essential questions for measuring indicator 1.4.2 in the relevant surveys and censuses in Iraq in accordance with the joint module for indicator 1.4.2 and 5.a.1.
  5. Draft reports on the availability and existing of land data. .

Qualifications/special skills

Skills:
• Demonstrable analytical and presentation skills is required.
• Good computer skills and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, Microsoft access, is required.
Academic Qualifications:
• Advanced university degree related to data science (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Demography, Urban Studies/Planning, GIS, or any other closely related field) is required. A first-level university degree with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
• Five years of progressive experience as a data specialist working on surveys and a broad range of urban and human settlements issues at the local, national and international levels is required. Some level of knowledge of and experience working with the SDGs is desirable.
• Strong experience in data collection and analysis of data from household surveys, geospatial data and administrative data, summarizing and presenting large quantities of statistics on human settlements using relevant computer software (Stata, R, SPSS, etc.) is required.
• Experience of statistical system in Iraq; and experience in developing reports is required.
Language:
• English and French are the working languages of the United Nation Secretariat, for this position fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of any other UN language will be an advantage.
