Work days: Tuesday and Thursday 7:45 – 3:45 PM
The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is a nationally incorporated charity with chapters in 13 cities across Canada. We are currently seeking a Quran Teacher to join our team in Bridgeland, the heart of Calgary.
Reporting directly to the school principal, the Quran Teacher’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare yearly lesson plan, based on each student’s level.
Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within the classroom.
Ability to teach students how to effectively recite from memory with accurate pronunciation
Explain and implement Tajweed
Recording daily attendance for students.
Regularly follow up with parents and guardians.
Evaluating student on a regular basis.
Testing and marking students
Preparing progress report for students.
Implement our school’s moto iRise, iLearn, iDiscover into lesson plans.
Education and Qualifications:
1 to 2 years of previous Quran teaching in a classroom setting would be preferred
Must have solid and complete knowledge both practical and theoretical of Tajweed in classic Arabic.
Must have a degree in Arabic and Islamic studies or an ijaza for tilawa tahfeez from approved Sheik or Hafaz.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to manage classrooms and any situations that arises
Ability to thrive in a team as well as work independently
Organized, reliable, and highly dedicated
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Google Sheets)
