Purpose of the Role

The Post Holder Under the supervision of the Logistician he is in charge of driving vehicle and assisting the logistics team for purchases, maintenance if needed as well as all the movements require by Erbil office staff. There are occasions where the duty driver will be required to provide additional support during external visits.

 

Working Hours

The standard schedule is as follows and can be changed at any time according to business needs. Any changes will be communicated one month in advance to ensure adequate time for adjustment or contract end if the duty driver does not wish to continue under the new schedule. The standard schedule is:

  • Driving from 8:30 to 5:00 Saturday to Thursday
  • Saturday on call from 08:30 to 21:30
  • Friday is off day
  • Total hours 48h per week

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving vehicle and passenger, safety and security of transported material/equipment.
  • Weekly vehicle inspections to ensure good working order of the vehicle. Alert the Procurement and Logistics Officer in case of technical problems or need of maintenance.
  • Minimum of weekly cleaning of the vehicle.
  • Complete logbook for all journeys and submitted to the Procurement and Logistics Officer at the end of every month.
  • Collecting airport and other parking receipts and submitting a reimbursement request to the Procurement and Logistics Officer at the end of each month.
  • Respect the right to privacy of staff.
  • Follow all the traffic laws
  • Responsibility for driving WCUK staff carefully and safely as per WCUK driving standards, for meetings or travel within Erbil, base visits to Mosul, Qayyarah, or mobile site visits in Nineveh
  • Transporting stock or documents as needed or transporting staff and/or goods to other locations as required.
  • Responsibility for keeping vehicles clean, conducting daily and weekly vehicle checks, and managing general vehicle maintenance as per WCUK guidelines.
  • Work in accordance with War Child policies and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education and experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an international NGO or local NGO in emergency context.
  • Valid Driver’s license with clean record.
  • He has a 4×4 cars, model not less than 2015.
  • Good spoken English and Arabic and Kurdish (written & verbal) is a must.
