Education Assistant


1.      Role and responsibilities

Generic responsibilities:

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities:

  • To assist in the implementation of education activities under direction of the Education Officer
  • Supervise education activities and provide support to teachers in line with program objectives
  • Information management: data entry, analysis and archiving.
  • Provide support to NRC activities, schools and facilitate key activities with children in line with NRC quality standards
  • Ensure direct communication and feedback with beneficiaries and relevant host communities
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting of projects at field level
  • Organize, support and participate in Mother’s Group, parents teach association (PTA), DoE and community-level meetings.
  • Regularly travel to the field to support education, recreation and psycho-social support (PSS) activities.
  • Organize and implement distributions of teaching and learning materials
  • Any other task relevant to the position as requested by line manager
  • Establishing positive work relations with headmasters and DoE supervisors and representatives in school level

2.    Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Understanding of the circumstances, needs and challenges trauma-affected children face
  • Understanding of the role of education in meeting the needs of trauma-affected children
  • Understanding of SPHERE and/or INEE minimum standards
  • Knowledge of the basics of Child Protection and/or psychosocial support
  • Experience working with children and/or educators; MoE-level experience a plus
  • Experience in community mobilization and/or relationship building
  • Candidates with a university and/or advanced degree preferred.
  • Good knowledge about data collection, entry and analysis.

3.      Other information:

Contract Duration: 4 months

Duty Station: Central Iraq Area office Kirkuk -Hawija

Health Insurance is provided

Salary: G3/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
