- Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.
- Patrol assigned area to ensure the safety and security of NRC’s personnel and assets.
- Remain vigilant throughout the duty period, paying specific attention externally to activities and potential suspicious activities.
- Carry out regular patrols of the compound to include inspecting physical security measures: gates, doors, fences, lighting and barbed wires to ensure they are intact and not tampered with. In addition, also paying particular attention to hazards, such as electrical faults or any other hazard that may be a safety risk, logging and reporting Immediately any faults or irregularities
- Manage access control of the compound, to deter unauthorized entry into the NRC compound and ensuring quick access for NRC staff. Check the reliable legal identity (ID) of all visitors and log their entry and exit in the Visitors Book. Ensure visitors meet the person whom they are visiting. Maintain a record of all staff and visitors within the compound at any given time
- React to any potential threats quickly, if necessary securing the compound and staff. Request assistance from the relevant security or law enforcement if necessary and aid in the evacuation of staff if required.
- Ensure that gates and doors are secure at all times, especially at the end of the business.
- Receive and screen deliveries of mail/packages and other items. All deliveries shall be logged.
- Ensure proper handover to the replacement guard, maintaining a record/log of all activities: Patrol, handover, incidents, movements.
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
