This ad may be used to fill multiple positions. Seeking a reliable, well-organized individual with a dynamic professional attitude to serve as an active member of the Public Assistance and Employment Services, Employment Services Team. Determines eligibility for the Virginia Initiative for Education and Work (VIEW) program. Addresses barriers to employment through education and training services. Interviews, advises, and guides a diverse population of clients as it relates to their pre and post-employment needs. Coordinates referred services with partner programs and providing intensive case management to eligible participants, developing community partnerships, providing support to the Fairfax County employment centers, and connecting job seekers to the community resources. This position will require a flexible professional, ready and willing to take on different roles and tasks depending on office and program needs. Participation in job fairs and related activities requires some evening and/or weekend work. Some local travel is required. Note: Location varies depending on the needs of the department at One-Stop Employment Centers throughout Northern Virginia in the counties of Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree plus two years of human services or related professional work experience.
Contingent upon the area of assignment, some positions within this class may require specific certification(s) prior to employment and/or the ability to acquire necessary certification(s) within a specified time period following employment. The certifications are identified in the position description and employment advertisement.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Virginia Workforce Development Professional Certification (Required within 12 months of appointment).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws, performance measures, and quality standards governing federal workforce programs
Knowledge of social, economic, health, and cultural factors that can serve as barriers to employment.
Knowledge of labor market conditions and job development techniques.
Knowledge and experience with process improvement strategies, data management and the Virginia Workforce Connection.
Certified Virginia Workforce Development Professional (VWDP) or National Workforce Development Professional (NWDP).
Clear and concise oral and written communications skills.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Vietnamese, and/or Korean.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist and shoulder movements. Sufficiently mobile to work with clients and employers All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
