Overall job purposes

The Hygiene Promoter promotes hygiene in relation to Al-Ghad water, sanitation and hygiene programme. S/he is in charge of mobilizing the community, organizing hygiene awareness-raising sessions and promoting the proper use of sanitation and water infrastructure.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

• Participate in the initial need assessment at target communities’ level: carry out personal interview at household level, facilitation of focus group discussions, visits to sites and infrastructures, and meeting with key members of community.
• Provide technical support to community hygiene volunteers and developing a culture sensitive IEC material for Hygiene Promotion activities.
• Conduct hygiene promotion sessions alongside community hygiene volunteers in the targeted community
• Identify, train and follow-up of activities of community hygiene promotion volunteers.
• Provide Training of Trainers on hygiene promotion to WASH committee members and community hygiene promotion volunteers.
• Supporting WASH officer on organizing and supervision of cleaning campaign.
• Develop and communicate techniques for households on environmental, food, water hygiene in the target communities.
• Ensure the commemoration of different social marketing events such as World Water Day, World Toilet Day and Global Hand Washing Day, etc.
• Ensure that the hygiene promotion activities are designed based on the quality standards established by CARE through quality checklists.
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the WASH Project officer.
• Daily monitoring and recording of field activities related to hygiene promotion.
• Assist the MEAL department in base line and end line surveys and make sure that project lesson learnt are documented for future note.
• Distribution Hygiene kits in the communities .
• Supervise on Solid waste managements services

• Bachelor in WASH related studies (environment engineer , science, public health , ) or other relevant training
• Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory level working experience related project management with NGO or INGO.
• Fluency in Arabic is essential. Spoken and written English is required
• Have the qualities to make a good community approach
• Able to work in unstable, uncertain or potentially dangerous environments, independently and in a team.
• Management capacity and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience skills.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
• Computer knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel
