THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will determine initial/ongoing eligibility for public assistance benefit programs administered by the Philadelphia County Assistance Office. You will be assigned a matrix level workload, which may include cash assistance, medical assistance, or SNAP category cases. You will utilize bilingual skills to communicate orally and in writing in both Arabic and English.

Work hours and additional information:
The Department of Human Services provides a competitive salary, contractual pay increases, and opportunity for advancement.

Hours of Work: 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, 1-hour lunch.

Travel: As needed.

Overtime: As needed.

May change based on operational needs.

Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.

WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned work duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In Counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational need. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:
You must have successfully examined and have a current score on file. If you have not already done so, you must first apply to the INCOME MAINTENANCE CASEWORKER (ONLINE EXAM) posting and follow the directions provided.

This position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Arabic. You may be contacted for an Arabic speaking proficiency evaluation. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Arabic must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
